Plastic components for packaging machinery and conveyor systems
Angus Production Ltd manufactures chain guides, wear strips, rollers, sprockets and bespoke machined parts in UHMW polyethylene, acetal and nylon, for machine builders and the maintenance teams who keep production lines running.
Four areas of supply
Standard profiles for conveyor and drive systems, plus parts machined to your drawing in the material that suits the duty.
Where plastic outperforms metal on the line
In sliding, guiding and light-load rotating duties, the right engineering plastic can reduce wear on chains and belts, run with little or no lubrication and stand up to washdown.
Low friction
Chains, belts and products slide with less resistance, reducing drive load and heat build-up at contact points.
Protects costlier parts
A plastic guide or strip wears in place of the chain, belt or frame, and is quicker and cheaper to replace.
Little or no lubrication
Many applications run dry, which helps keep packaging and product areas clean.
Moisture and washdown
UHMW-PE and acetal hold their dimensions in wet environments and do not corrode.
Lower weight
Lighter rotating parts mean lower inertia on indexing drives and easier handling during maintenance.
Reduced noise
Plastic-on-metal contact runs more quietly than metal-on-metal, particularly on chain return runs.

Send us what you have. We will review it, recommend a suitable material and come back with a quotation for parts made to your requirements.
Products
Conveyor and rotating components in standard profiles and sizes, with custom-machined parts and engineering plastics for applications outside the standard range.
Materials & Manufacturing
Choosing the right plastic matters as much as the dimensions. These are the materials most often used for conveyor and packaging machinery components, and how each behaves in service.
Common materials and where they fit
Typical properties
Indicative values for unfilled grades at room temperature. Actual values vary by grade and supplier; check the material datasheet for design work.
How plastic components are made
Components are cut and machined from extruded or cast sheet, rod and profile. Plastics behave differently from metals under the cutter, so tooling, feeds and fixturing are set for each material.
Sawing and cutting
Sheet and rod cut to blank size; profiles cut to length for guides and wear strips.
CNC milling
Profiles, pockets, slots and contours machined from sheet or block to drawing.
CNC turning
Round parts turned from rod, including bores, grooves and bearing seats.
Drilling and finishing
Fixing holes, countersinks and slots added; edges deburred and parts checked against drawing.
Machining plastics to drawing
Plastics expand with temperature far more than steel. A 1 m UHMW-PE wear strip can change length by several millimetres between a cold store and a warm hall, so fixing holes are often slotted to allow movement.
Nylon absorbs moisture and grows slightly as it does. Where tight fits matter in damp conditions, acetal is usually the more stable choice.
Achievable tolerances depend on material, size and geometry. We will flag any feature that is difficult to hold in a given plastic before quoting.
Custom Components
When a standard profile does not fit, we can quote for plastic parts manufactured to your drawing, specification or sample, from single replacements to batch quantities.
Three ways to start an enquiry
A drawing
The quickest route to a quotation. Include material, quantity and any critical tolerances or surface requirements.
A specification
A dimensioned sketch with notes on how the part is used. We can help turn it into a drawing for approval.
A sample
Send the part for measurement. Worn parts can be reproduced where the original dimensions can be established.
From enquiry to delivery
Enquiry
Send your drawing, specification or sample with quantity and application details.
Review
We check manufacturability and recommend a material for the duty and environment.
Quotation
A written quote with material, price per part and lead time for your quantity.
Manufacture
Parts are cut and machined to the agreed drawing.
Inspection & dispatch
Key dimensions checked against drawing before parts are packed and sent.
Parts made to requirement
- Guide blocks, wear pads and slide plates
- Bushes, spacers and sleeves in non-standard sizes
- Rollers and idlers with specific bores or bearing seats
- Curved or shaped guide sections for conveyor transfers
- Machine change parts such as product guides and pockets
- Replacement parts reverse-engineered from worn originals
About Angus Production
A Birmingham manufacturer of precision plastic components for packaging machinery and conveyor systems.
Plastic components, made in the West Midlands
Angus Production Ltd makes engineering plastic parts that guide, support and drive moving equipment: chain and belt guides, wear strips, rollers, pulleys, bearings and sprockets, along with bespoke parts machined to customer drawings.
We work with the people who build and maintain production equipment. That usually means a machine builder specifying a component for a new design, or a maintenance engineer who needs a worn part replaced and does not have time to chase it.
Our focus is narrow on purpose. We concentrate on a small number of engineering plastics and the components made from them, so we can give straightforward advice on which material suits an application and why.
